Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s major wildlife sanctuaries. Enjoy the unique African wildlife. Apart from the buffalo, the park is home to the Big Five as well as hundreds of zebra, gazelle, antelope and giraffe. There are also over 300 different bird species at home here. Best time to go is dry season from June to August.
The lodges in and around Etosha are stunning. You can either stay inside the park or outside on the eastern or western part of Etosha. The advantage of staying in Etosha is the closeness to the waterholes. It is a little more expensive but you can literally spend the whole night at the floodlit waterholes and see a lot of different game. Staying outside the park can be cheaper and it´s only about a 10 – 30 min. drive to the gates. Some of the lodges also feature their own waterholes. The Lodges are very beautiful and well organized with an African charm. Depending on your standard you can choose anything from camping to luxury bungalows, air-conditioned suites, rooms or chalets with their own unique ambience, designed with a classic appeal.
Most of the accommodations provide:
- Walking trails
- Private waterholes
- Swimming pool
- Camping opportunities
- Guided night drives, morning and afternoon game drives
- Mountain Biking
- African cuisine at the restaurant
- African style lounge and dining area
- Bird watching
- Clay pigeon shooting
- Walking safaris
One of Etosha’s great benefits is its accessibility for 2wd vehicles. Explore this unique habitat at your own pace in you own vehicle or hire a guide to ride with you. Etosha is renowned for the high chance of seeing the black rhinoceros. There are roughly 3 000 of this species left in the whole of Africa. Have your camera ready and don’t forget your binoculars.
