Okahirongo Elephant Lodge
Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is deep in the north-western Kaokoland. This stylish and comfortable lodge is far from anywhere and the very essence of escape. It is situated inside the Purros Conservancy and features wild desert-adapted species of lion, elephant, black rhino and giraffe.
With 32,000 hectares of wilderness to share among a handful of guests the feeling of isolation and exclusivity at Hobatere Lodge is magical. The lodge is a fully-fledged game reserve in its own right and a feasible alternative to visiting Etosha, which forms its eastern boundary. Your guide and hosts are passionate and have a fascinating tale to tell about everything.
Opuwo Country Lodge
Opuwo Country Lodge is a tidy and comfortable base camp on the edge of the moonscape that is Kaokoland. Air conditioned rooms, a large pool and a comfortable living area will make returning home after a long day’s exploring that much more enjoyable.
Kavita Lion Lodge
Kavita Lion Lodge combines the best of Namibia in a tranquil and remote part of the country. Excellent game viewing and bird watching are the staples while the fascinating conservation efforts and cultural interaction are the cream on top. The lodge is comfortable and your hosts, Uwe and Tammy, provide heartfelt hospitality.
Fort Sesfontein Lodge
Fort Sesfontein is a charming restored 19th century fort on the frontier between civilisation and the wild west of Namibia. Sixteen comfortable rooms line the courtyard and the old officers’ mess is now the restaurant, bar and lounge area. The hotel offers excellent guided tours and safaris into the nether regions of Kaokoland.
Oshakati Country Hotel
Oshakati Country Hotel is the obvious stopover choice when travelling between Koakoland, Etosha and the Caprivi. Well-placed in the centre of the small town, it has comfortable air conditioned rooms, an à la carte restaurant and a lush garden courtyard with an inviting swimming pool.
Ohakane Lodge is a simple, comfortable lodge in the centre of Opuwo on the edge of the vast emptiness of Kaokoland. The lodge has sir conditioned en suite rooms, a bar, a restaurant and a swimming pool that, in this heat, will be music to your eyes.
Mopane Camp is a comfortable and rustic tented camp on the banks of a dry riverbed. Near Opuwo it is a good place to stop and gather your strength before the final push into the wild and rugged Kunene reion.
Kunene River Lodge
The Kunene River Lodge is shaded by a dense thicket of riverine trees and the river is an integral part of life in this remote and rustic camp. Despite its remote isolation, the accommodation is comfortable and the adventure of discovery stirs up the tranquil mood that pervades.
